What forms of Payment do you accept?

- You can pay with checking account (e-check): Forte, the processor of your transaction, charges a fee of $1.50. This fee goes directly to the processor and is a convenience fee.
- You can pay with a credit or debit card, but there is a processing fee once again. It is 2.4%
- We do NOT keep or gain from the fee in any way. Missouri State Statutes do not allow us to pay that fee for you like for-profit retail establishments.
In person
- We accept cash, cashier’s check, money orders, checks, credit/debit cards.
- The bank fees will apply to in-person credit and debit card transactions.
- There is an ATM in the lobby of the courthouse

You can call us during business hours and pay by your credit or debit card over the phone. There will be a 2.19% charge per transaction.
Additional Payment Information
Credit Card Convenience Fees
When using a credit card to pay taxes, a convenience fee of 2.4% will be added to the total bill amount and charged to your credit card. The minimum convenience fee is $1.50.
All convenience fees charged on credit card transactions are retained by the payment processing company. The Phelps County Collector’s Office does not charge or retain any of these fees.
Personal Checks
One check may be written for multiple tax bills. Please pay the correct total due, include your account number(s) on your check, and make checks payable to Phelps County Collector. Unsigned checks will be returned and applicable late charges may apply.
Any check that is returned will be subject to a $25.00 returned payment fee, plus any applicable late charges that may have accrued since the original payment. There are no exceptions to these charges being assessed.
E-Checks
Funds are automatically deducted from your bank account – pending verification of valid account information and availability of funds.
A flat fee of $1.50 per transaction will be charged when paying with e-check regardless of the amount. You can pay multiple bills using one e-check. All processing fees charged on e-check transactions are retained by the payment processing company.
Cashiers Checks
One cashier’s check may be written for multiple bills. Please pay the correct total due. Include your account number(s) on your cashier’s check and make cashier’s checks payable to Phelps County Collector.
Payment By Money Order
One money order may be written for multiple tax bills. Please pay the correct total due. Include your account number(s) on your money order and make money orders payable to Phelps County Collector.
Drop Box
There are two drop boxes available for your convenience. One is located in the glass front doors on the right hand side of the Phelps County Courthouse.
The second is located in the parking lot diagonal to the courthouse on the southwest corner.
Installments
Installment Payment Option is available for Personal and Real estate.
